Една от най-големите легенди в света на моторните спортове – сър Стърлинг Мос, вече не е сред нас. Британецът е починал в дома си в ранните часове на католическия Великден, на 90 г.
Мос има 212 победи от 529 състезание, въпреки че не постига шампионска титла е втори в 4 години – в периода от 1955 до 1961 г., които са едни от най-опасните за Формула 1 и взимат най-много жертви. Въпреки това Мос до последно бе радетел на повече риск в състезанията и често влизаше в конфронтация по тези теми с шампиони като сър Джеки Стюърт. След като се отказа от активна състезателна кариера Мос често участва в надпревари с класически коли и дори на 81 г. все още слагаше състезателния шлем.
По време на състезание в Гудууд през 1962 г. катастрофира тежко и остава в кома за повече от месец. Части от тялото му са парализирани за 6 месеца. Инцидентът прекратява кариерата му.
Преди 10 г. Мос имаше инцидент с падане с асансьор, но се възстанови от него, а от известно време е боледувал тежко в дома си в Мейфеър. „Той почина така, както и живя – изглеждайки красив. Накрая бе уморен и просто затворих красивите му очи“, коментира с тъга Лейди Мос.
Нека почива в мир, ще бъде помнен като един от най-смелите и добри пилоти, раждани някога.
